Getting to Giverny

Monet's gardens are six and a half kilometres from Vernon-Giverny station. There is no metro and no tram: it's the shuttle bus, a bicycle, or a taxi. I drive it several times a day from April to October.

From the station

I wait on the forecourt with your name in my hand

Give me your train number when you book and I follow the real arrival time. If the train is late I move the pick-up, at no extra charge. You walk out of the station, the car is there.

I can wait while you visit

Allow around two hours for the house and the gardens. I wait up to 45 minutes on site without rebooking a slot; beyond that, waiting is charged at the official hourly rate and the amount is told to you before we leave. Most people book the return at the same time: it saves hunting for a car at the end of the day, when everyone comes out together.

  • About a quarter of an hour, four passengers
  • Return trip with waiting: your suitcases stay in the boot while you visit
  • Card payment on board
  • Late trains followed, no extra charge

Giverny takes a morning. Many people continue afterwards, and that is where having a car changes the day.

1 hr

Rouen

on site

Musée des impressionnismes

Two hundred metres from the gardens, in the same village.
